Lightning protection

You install the Ubiquiti Ethernet lightning protection module between the outdoor access point and your indoor switch. This protects your indoor hardware against lightning strikes.

Fuse

This surge protector contains a fuse. In the event of a lightning strike on the outdoor equipment, the blow is absorbed by this module. The module is then defective and must be replaced. Its purpose is to keep the harmful overvoltage at bay and thus protect the network equipment.

Protection outdoor access point

Since this protector must be placed behind the outdoor access point, your access point will not be protected in the event of an impact. For this purpose you can, for example, use the Pheenet SP-90VNS lightning protection module.

Grounding is important

For proper functioning, the Ethernet lightning protection must of course be properly grounded. For short earthing, a cable with a thickness of 2.5mm2 is sufficient. For longer distances a 6mm2 cable is required.

Type of network cables

This lightning protection module works on all types of network cables: CAT5, CAT5e CAT6 and all types of FTP network/Ethernet cables. NB This module is suitable for network cables. Other security modules are required for coax/antenna cable.

Warranty

Due to the nature and power of lightning strikes, the manufacturer unfortunately cannot provide any guarantees about the level of protection achieved.

Peak voltage

This Lightning Protector also offers protection against peak loads. It is therefore an ideal surge protector for both indoors and outdoors for 10/100/1000 Base-T networks.

PoE compatible

This surge arrestor is compatible with 802.3af Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) devices. Integral to the design is protection for the two Ethernet data pairs and the PoE-DC power feed. This device supports normal and reverse polarity in PoE.
