Point to Point WiFiThe Ubiquiti Nanostation M is intended for setting up Point to Point Wi-Fi setups where you can connect two buildings wirelessly. This setup is often used to connect two networks at different locations or to set up a backup internet connection. The Ubiquiti Nanostation operates at 2.4 GHz and can achieve a maximum speed of 150 Mbps and works according to the 802.11n Wi-Fi standard.Power and connectionsThe Ubiquiti Nanostation M has a maximum power of 28 dBm, which is much higher than the average outdoor Wi-Fi access point and can therefore cover greater distances. The internal antenna in the Nanostation has a gain of 11 dBi, which makes the total transmitted power very high. With a clear view, distances of up to 500 meters can be achieved, but we always recommend that you contact our Wi-Fi experts for advice regarding your specific situation.
The Ubiquiti Nanostation M has two network connections that allow you to connect the access point to your router or switch. The second network port can be used to daisy-chain the access point to a possible second unit.
The access point receives network data via its network connection, but is also supplied with power via this connection. The Ubiquiti Nanostation M uses Power over Ethernet for this purpose. The PoE adapter is also supplied with the access point as standard. A major advantage of power over Ethernet power supply is that you do not need power directly near the access point, you can power the access point with a network cable of up to 30 meters. No seamless roamingUbiquiti's access points do not support seamless roaming.
