Verbatim's Double / Dual Layer is a writable disc with a capacity of 8.5 GB on one side (2.6 GB for 8 cm discs). In accordance with the specifications of the +RW Alliance (Double Layer) or the DVD Forum (Dual Layer). The double / two-sided recording layer has been made possible by creating a new substrate layer that sits between each recording layer. This allows the laser beam to record on both layers. Once the first layer is recorded, the laser is re-focused to record on the second layer.
